"Light and time in the sea: Development of vision in elopomorph fishes"

12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Marcil 323
Biddeford Campus
Dr. Michael Grace Ph.D.

Free and open to the public

Dr. Grace is studying a more "traditional" sensory system; vision with an interest in how the eyes of marine fishes change as individuals mature and move into new and different habitats. He studies economically and ecologically valuable fish species tarpon, bonefish, ladyfish and eels, with the goal of understanding how their changing eyes affect their abilities to detect light, discriminate colors, and ultimately catch prey and avoid predators.
