Training session for UNE's new Roche 454 Junior DNA Sequencing system: Part 2
8:00 am - 5:00 pm
203 College of Pharmacy
Daniel Brazeau, Ph.D
The GRL provides extensive training and research support for a wide array of molecular genetic techniques to assist researchers in addressing a broad range of questions including gene expression, bioinformatics and genotyping. The laboratory has the necessary equipment and expertise to conduct a broad spectrum of techniques in molecular genetic biology including DNA/RNA/mRNA isolation, gene expression studies, DNA sequencing, RNA sequencing, quantitative real-time PCR, siRNA technologies and genotyping (microsatellites, RFLP鈥檚, AFLP鈥檚, ISSR鈥檚, and SNP鈥檚).
The facility is open to all students and faculty. GRL will provide the expertise and training in the technologies and data analysis; however researchers are expected to conduct their own work at the facility. mIn addition the GRL provides extensive education and training to not only university personnel but also to outside researchers and professionals through a series of workshops and short courses in DNA next gen sequencing, quantitative PCR, silencing RNA statistical packages/programs for genetic analysis, microsatellite development and analysis, and molecular genetic methodologies.
